Boston Scientific has said that it will spend about $138 million in order to build a 500,000-square-foot distribution center in Indiana, US.

In a latest development of the event, Boston Scientific will start work on the facility in 2026 and eventually provide almost 300 jobs, Mike Braun, Indiana Governor, said when announcing the project earlier in June 2026.

It is worth noting that Boston Scientific is constructing this distribution center in Indiana to expand its current distribution network, consisting of locations across Georgia and Massachusetts as well as Minnesota.

The primary U.S. distribution facility of Boston Scientific is located in Quincy, Massachusetts. The company purchased the Quincy site in 1998 and, in 2017, went on to convert the site into a 630,000-square-foot customer fulfillment center. Boston Scientific comprises distribution centers throughout Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, as well as Johns Creek, Georgia, a company spokesman said in an email.

When it comes to Plainfield, which is an Indianapolis suburb, the logistics site will manage global distribution of the medical devices of Boston Scientific. The site was built as part of Boston Scientific’s ongoing assessment of operations along with workspace requirements to enable its business plan and growth, said the spokesperson.

Interestingly, one of Boston Scientific’s largest manufacturing sites is in Spencer, Indiana, approximately 40 miles from Plainfield. Boston Scientific finished a refurbishment of the Spencer campus in 2022, which has been utilized for products such as the single-use endoscopy and urology scopes from the company.

The Plainfield project, notably, is a continuation of the development of Boston Scientific’s U.S. footprint, which has been reshaped in the past few years by alterations such as the closure of existing facilities in California and Texas. The company also made investments in other regions, including the opening of a plant in Maple Grove, Minnesota, along with the expansion of operations in Ireland.
