AI Summary

Krane has unveiled Procurement OS, an enterprise materials procurement module that leverages live construction supply chain data throughout the startup’s $17B+ portfolio in order to deliver supply chain materials intelligence while in the preconstruction phase. The module draws on lead times, submittal cycle times, and supplier delivery performance as well as material availability as they occur on various live jobsites to identify supply chain hazards and automatically evaluate supplier proposals in terms of technical compliance. Procurement OS is designed to push jobsite data intelligence upstream when making choices about equipment and vendors throughout preconstruction.

The core materials management platform from Krane is central to how construction teams handle the day-to-day flow of materials, from when a submittal is started by means of acceptance, fabrication, and shipment as well as job site delivery. Every transaction is data gold – the real time it takes to process submittals, which vendors are always on time, what material categories are getting delayed throughout the portfolio, and the extent to which actual lead times differ from what was stated in the bid.

Procurement OS pulls this data upstream. Rather than buying based on what went well on the last project or what a supplier states in an RFP response, teams can make choices based on what is taking place across billions of dollars of real-world construction activity. Here is the transition – from procurement by assumptions to procurement by proof. Without its tools, Krane found, the average time between the source of a procurement risk and its appearance on a project timeline was 47 days in Q1 and Q2 of 2026.

It is worth noting that material risk must be reduced by 18 to 24 months before construction begins because lead times on critical-path materials have been extended well beyond historical averages, owing to global supply chain turbulence and geopolitical events, says the founder and CEO of Krane, Eshan Jayamanne. “Every day, our platform captures live data about how materials are moving through the construction supply chain – data that the industry has never had access to at scale. Procurement OS takes everything we’re learning downstream on active jobsites and pushes it upstream into where the greatest risk mitigation happens: in preconstruction.”

Krane’s platform is implemented on significant healthcare, data center and institutional construction programs with prominent general contractors and owner’s teams in the ENR top 50 handling some of the most challenging projects in the country. Across its portfolio, Krane maintained a 92% on-time material delivery rate, monitored 2000+ supply chain hazards before they arrived at the jobsite, and enhanced coordination efficiency by 82%. These results are achievable as the platform learns from each materials management project and implements that intelligence in the next project.

According to the chief innovation officer at Boldt, William Lichtig, “Historically, understanding material availability came down to vendor calls, spreadsheets, and guesswork, and more often than not, it was too late. The earlier we know that lead times are shifting or a critical material is at risk, the more options we have, and Procurement OS gives us that intelligence during preconstruction, when it matters most. We’re looking forward to working with Krane to layer Boldt’s century of knowledge and lessons learned on top of what the platform already knows, making the intelligence even more actionable for the complex projects we deliver.”

Procurement OS which offers live construction supply chain data happens to be the next phase. Built for the industries in which supply chain risk costs are highest and where construction supply chain data may be most impactful. In data center construction, in which electrical and mechanical equipment comprises as much as 75% of the guaranteed highest possible price, a single delayed standard transformer or switchgear delivery can extend a project’s total timeline by months while costing the operator millions in deferred income.

For example, in healthcare, where specialised medical equipment and building systems must comply with strict regulatory and infection prevention requirements, the difference between ordering 18 months in advance instead of 12 months in advance can mean the difference between opening a facility on time or not.

The construction supply chain data advantage from Krane grows stronger in each of those verticals – the bigger the platform grows, the more advanced the supply chain intelligence, and the more precise the signals around lead time as well as supplier performance get for each team making use of Procurement OS.

The module comes with an active supplier network from the current project portfolio of Krane and industry partnerships, with substantial growth planned throughout the remainder of 2026. The platform is open, and vendors and suppliers not yet in a network can be welcomed and assessed as new projects come online.

How Procurement OS Works

Due to Procurement OS, Krane extends its platform upstream into preconstruction, thereby creating a continuous information loop from project preparation to jobsite execution.

Specification-driven material retrieval – Automatically extracts critical-path materials from project specifications as well as drawings, thereby removing manual procurement scoping.

Real-time lead time intelligence – Actual lead times from active project data, not vendor projections or industry averages, such as risk profiles for materials with few alternatives or tariff exposure.

Supplier performance scorecarding: Ranks and qualifies vendors based on their actual delivery results and submittal responsiveness as well as compliance track record determined across the project portfolio of Krane.

Automated bid compliance screening – Compares supplier proposals to project specifications in order to identify non-compliant bids prior to a buyer reviewing them, so teams only spend their evaluation time on feasible submissions.

Portfolio-wide risk awareness – Procurement leaders have a live overview of where long-term exposure is present throughout every project in their portfolio, so resources are allocated where early action has the highest effect.

Krane has begun rolling out Procurement OS at jobsites all over the United States, and it is accessible as part of the materials management platform from Krane for enterprise construction teams.
