XPO Logistics will be the new long-term logistics partner of Boots. It will help Boots combine its supply chain, use new technologies to make it easier for customers to see what’s occurring, and find ways to make the business more efficient in a way that is good for the environment.
XPO has been in charge of moving products from two Boots Service Centers in the UK since March 2024. This includes the 279-acre site that is located at Boots Headquarters in Beeston, Nottingham, and the other one, which is only 30 miles away in Burton-on-Trent, in the East Midlands.
Apparently, the new supply chain operation makes it much easier to move goods from both sites to a large number of Boots Cross Dock Centers which are located across the UK and Ireland.
As XPO Logistics becomes new long-term logistics partner of Boots, the latter would also get help from 23 XPO Logistics support staff as well as two new operational fleets of different sizes. One fleet will be in charge of delivering products along planned routes, whereas the other will be a smaller fleet that will exclusively be used for shunting at the Beeston as well as Burton sites.
The new operation has 50 trunking drivers and 35 trunking vehicles, and 22 shunt drivers, along with 10 shunt vehicles, and runs every day of the week.
With XPO Logistics as a new logistics partner, Boots will also be able to see more clearly all thanks to new track-and-trace technology and XPO’s system for keeping an eye when it comes to its carbon footprint.
