DHL has gone ahead and lifted its suspension of business-to-consumer – B2C shipments over $800 that are coming into the US, said the logistics company in an announcement recently made.

As per DHL, this decision enables constructive dialogue between themselves and the US government, who demonstrated a robust willingness to gauge operational as well as technical issues and who have agreed that it is indeed imperative to act quickly in the interest of the US consumers.

Apparently, the company installed suspension on April 21 because of shipping bills resulting from alterations in US trade regulations. DHL has reported that the formal customs clearances have already begun applying to B2C shipments over $800, which is a shift from the previous threshold of $2500, thereby leading to multi-day transit delays.

Many goods that are above $250 lost informal entry eligibility on April 5 because of reciprocal tariffs and thereby added duties that were in line with the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Due to the de minimis exemption, which is still active and enabling streamlined processing, DHL could still quickly import goods that are below $800.

However, the value threshold has again increased to $2500 After the discussion with the US government by enabling the shipment below that amount to be cleared through the expedited informal entry procedure, as per DHL. This role pack has led DHL to start over transporting B2C shipments over $800 to the US again.

According to the company, DHL Express indeed values the opportunity when it comes to contributing to the development of the new regulation rolled out by the US government, which is in favor of the customers who are undoubtedly their focus. It is the company’s priority to efficiently support the needs, and they view this development to be a positive step forward as far as continuing with the facilitation of international trade is concerned.

But all said and done, US-bound B2C shipments over $800 may as well still face a lot of transit delays as DHL goes on to reinstate the service and functions to clear the present backlog.
