AI Summary

GEODIS has opened its multi-user logistics site in Malsfeld, Germany, as the central European distribution hub for Lovevery, further expanding the partnership of the companies as the early childhood development brand grows its e-commerce footprint throughout the region.

The facility became the center of Lovevery’s European logistics operations in early 2025, when its distribution activities were moved from Hamburg. GEODIS provides various services on-site, such as warehousing, inventory management, order fulfillment, pick and pack, preparation of international shipments, and returns management.

The move centralizes critical logistics functions in one place and provides Lovevery with increased agility to manage inventory, respond to seasonal demand, and support expansion into other European markets.

In May 2024, GEODIS began to operate Lovevery’s supply chain, and the two companies began working together. Following the move to Malsfeld, the companies extended their contract even further to strengthen their partnership to meet the brand’s growing regional distribution needs.

Says Roderick Morris, co-founder and president, Lovevery, “GEODIS offers us logistics solutions in order to keep pace with that demand. The Malsfeld facility gives us the flexibility, reliability, and real-time visibility needed to stay focused on the families we serve.”

The integrated operating model of the facility is designed to enhance stock visibility and simplify order processing while offering a scalable infrastructure for handling increased volumes along with cross-border shipments.

European E-commerce sees new customs requirements

The move comes as the European Union is to implement a new handling fee when it comes to small shipments entering the bloc, with member states obligated to start applying the fee by 1 November 2026 at the latest.

Published guidance from the European Commission confirms the introduction of the fee across the EU, which will, however, set the final amount. The measure is part of a broader customs reform to deal with the increasing volume of e-commerce imports and the expense of customs supervision.

For logistics providers and online retailers, this means that effective inventory planning, shipment transparency, and coordination throughout international distribution networks are all the more important. A centralized European fulfillment operation may assist businesses in handling stock and orders more effectively, although the exact effect of the new fee will be contingent on the final guidelines and how they relate to individual shipments.

GEODIS Grows Electric Truck Fleet

The Lovevery development follows the declaration made by GEODIS on 5 October, 2026, that it executed a firm order for 110 electric heavy-duty trucks with a total vehicle weight of 44 tonnes for its European road transport operations.

The vehicles, which are being developed by Renault Trucks and Volvo Trucks, are expected to be delivered by May 2027 and will be used in France for urban deliveries and long-haul transport. The additional vehicles will bring the GEODIS fleet of electric trucks servicing its European Road Network business to 190, it said.

The company is also working on electric freight corridors on key French routes, supported by charging infrastructure designed to offer charging possibilities every 250 to 500 kilometres. The company has about 60 charging points now and aims to expand the network to over 200 by 2030.

The investment is part of the broader decarbonization strategy by GEODIS and supports its development of integrated logistics solutions for customers throughout Europe.

The Malsfeld hub is a central European distribution hub for Lovevery that supports its regional expansion. The expanded partnership strengthens the contract logistics business of GEODIS as the company continues to build its transport and distribution standards within Europe.
