GE Aerospace is looking to almost double supply chain spends in India to $400m by the end of the decadeĀ as the jet engine maker seeks to boost its procurement of components from the country.

The company, which has a major presence when it comes toĀ civil aviation and defence segments and a manufacturing plant in Pune along with a technology center in Bengaluru, has been operating in India for more than 40 years. GE Aerospace’s investment in supply chain was $200 million in 2025 and it plans to almost double supply chain spends in India to $400m

Vikram Rai, the GE Aerospace South Asia CEO,Ā on October 12, 2026,Ā stated that the company’s investment in the supply chain in India is expected to almost double by 2030 and indicated its long-term dedication to theĀ growing aviation ecosystem of the country.

A report which was released on October 12, 2026Ā said thatĀ GE Aerospace is boosting its sourcing of components from India, which includes introducing new components as well as sourcing higher volumes of current components.

The report, which isĀ titled ā€œPowering Progress: GE Aerospace’s Economic Impact in India”, was put together with the help of consultancy EY India.

The company has 17 global suppliers from India, which include Tata Group, Mahindra, and HAL, as well as Godrej, and more than 2,000 local suppliers.

It is well to be noted that today, there are in excess ofĀ 1,400 GE Aerospace commercial engines as well as more than 200 defence engines flying in the country.

The Pune facility of the companyĀ makes components for aero engines and is one of the main sources of standardized parts that go into its engines around the world.

To date, almostĀ $255 million has been invested into the facility. Airlines inĀ IndiaĀ have ordered more than 1,700 new aircraft that are scheduled to enter service over the next decade, the majority of which will be powered by engines from GE Aerospace and its partners.

The report says that ā€œIndian carriers have on order 3,200+26 GE Aerospace as well as partner engines as of 2026.”

Apparently, IndiGo signed a memorandum of understanding –Ā MoUĀ with CFM International in July 2026 for an order of more than 1,000 LEAP-1A engines for 510 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, as well as assistance to construct the airline’s forthcoming engine MRO – Maintenance, Repair and OverhaulĀ facility.

CFM International is a joint venture owned equally by GE Aerospace as well as Safran Aircraft Engines.

India is one of the largest domestic civil aviation marketplaces in the world.

The country’s yearly domestic passenger traffic was 340 million in FY26, and the count is projected to climb to 1.1 billion by 2040.

GE Aerospace’s Bengaluru Technology Center, founded in 2000, developed the Analytics-Based Maintenance –Ā ABM.aiĀ platform, which offers predictive insights that allow airlines to schedule maintenance in advance while decreasing unforeseen engine removals.

Apart from otherĀ works, the center established the Blade Inspection Tool –Ā BITĀ for GEnx and CFM LEAP as well as GE9X engines.

Interestingly, the center has been awarded more than 1,000 patents.Ā  The report also said that theĀ Digital Technology –Ā DT team of the companyĀ in India acts as a Global Capability Center –Ā GCC, supporting its global supply chain, MRO –Ā Maintenance, Repair and OverhaulĀ and sales activities with applied AI and analytics for prediction and optimization.
