The Directorate General of Customs in the Sultanate of Oman, in coordination with Dubai Customs, has introduced a temporary green corridor to facilitate the movement of diverted cargo shipments between Dubai and Omani ports through land routes. The initiative, announced on 14th March 2026 under Dubai Customs Notice No. 04/2026, is aimed at maintaining trade flows and alleviating pressure on regional supply chains. By activating this green corridor, both authorities are seeking to ensure that shipments redirected under exceptional circumstances are handled efficiently, reflecting a high level of operational cooperation between the UAE and Oman.
Under the framework, containers initially bound for Jebel Ali Port but arriving at Omani ports will be able to proceed swiftly to Dubai using bonded land transport. This process follows the completion of simplified customs procedures in Oman, allowing cargo to move with reduced delays. The arrangement applies broadly to most categories of goods, excluding specific items outlined in an annex to the customs notice. It also includes shipments arriving at Omani ports from global origins that were originally intended for Dubai but were diverted due to ongoing disruptions affecting shipping routes and logistics operations. Through the green corridor, logistics operators are provided with a streamlined channel that supports continuity in cargo handling.
Once customs clearance is completed by Omani authorities, containers are transported directly via bonded trucks to Jebel Ali Port, ensuring that cargo can continue its journey with minimal interruption while remaining compliant with regulatory requirements. The mechanism further extends to selected air cargo shipments that were initially destined for Dubai airports but rerouted through Oman. These shipments are also eligible to move onward via the green corridor under simplified procedures agreed upon by both customs administrations, reinforcing the initiative’s flexibility in addressing diverse logistics needs.
Officials indicated that the measure is intended to improve trade fluidity and strengthen supply chain resilience amid regional logistical challenges. By introducing faster processing times and coordinated customs protocols, the green corridor helps reduce bottlenecks and provides greater predictability for businesses, shipping lines, freight forwarders and logistics providers. The initiative also highlights the strategic importance of Oman’s ports as alternative gateways during periods of disruption, while underscoring the deepening logistical integration between Oman and the UAE. Developed through intensive coordination in recent days, the arrangement demonstrates the ability of both sides to respond quickly and effectively to evolving supply chain conditions.
