UPS has gone ahead and announced the launch of UPS Secure Commerce, a full set of supply chain solutions designed to help organizations of all types safeguard against unpredictability, manage hazards, and utilize technology and data to address complex logistics issues.
With UPS Secure Commerce, you get more than peace of mind, you gain a competitive advantage. UPS Secure Commerce provides data-driven intelligence, useful information, and proactive risk mitigation to help you avoid the costly consequences of fraud, delivery problems, shipment loss, or operational failures.
Says UPS Chief Digital and Technology Officer, UPS, “Commerce is becoming more connected, more digital, and more complex,” said UPS Chief Digital and Technology Officer Bala Subramanian. “Today’s businesses need more insights and visibility to make real-time decisions that help them better manage supply chain risk. With UPS Secure Commerce, we are bringing together decades of data and expertise – with our agentic Artificial Intelligence – to help customers move from reactive to proactive supply chain management.”
UPS Secure Commerce combines established UPS solutions in one portfolio, including InsureShield® Shipping Insurance for shipment protection as well as simple and rapid claims recovery, Parcel Pro® for high-value and specialty shipment assurance, and CommerceShield™ technology for proactive shipping and e-commerce risk reduction. All of these solutions provide a 360-degree view of every aspect of the supply chain, enabling businesses to make better choices before, during, and after delivery.
In 2025, UPS safeguarded 1.4 million shippers and insured 62 million packages, resolving 97% of claims within five days.
Handling complexity with confidence
With expertise in logistics, multi-channel and multi-carrier visibility, fulfillment, protection, and automation, UPS helps businesses scale with confidence. And now, UPS is introducing risk intelligence and supply chain protection to its ecosystem.
While most logistics providers only offer visibility into portions of a customer’s logistics journey, UPS Secure Commerce is built differently. UPS combines decades of global logistics experience and multicarrier capabilities to connect data and visibility across a customer’s entire supply chain, turning isolated events into useful information to identify risk and create more predictable, reputation-enhancing customer experiences.
Brett Hutchinson, co-founder of apparel brand Buru, adds, “Trust is either reinforced or lost with each order. With the help of UPS, premium risk solutions became a framework for real-time reputation management, giving our team the confidence to act first for the customer and reconcile the claim afterward.”
Prior to the partnership with UPS, Buru’s workflow took 20 to 25 minutes per claim and at least a week to resolve. The team can confidently refund or replace and recover orders faster with claims filed in minutes and typically resolved within 24 hours.
More than just a package
Global retail e-commerce sales are expected to reach $6.4 trillion in 2025, with reported fraud losses representing about 3.2% of e-commerce revenue – and this is before factoring in the extra cost of litigation, reimbursements, reshipments, claims handling, returns, and customer recovery, as well as reputational risk.
Risk does not end at the point of delivery. Merchants also need to prepare for inventory woes, buying experience, and the never-ending decisions that drive customer loyalty. UPS has the tools for businesses to have long-lasting customer relationships.
Subramanian adds, “With UPS Secure Commerce, we’re protecting more than just the package,” Subramanian said. “We are empowering businesses to protect revenue, strengthen customer trust, and make more confident decisions during each step of the supply chain journey.”
