Rhenus Group, a global leader in logistics, has opened a new dangerous goods warehouse in Thailand. The new warehouse is ideally situated in Bangkok near the prevailing KM19 warehouse in Bangna Trad and close to major ports in order to further enhance its capabilities in specialised warehousing services in Thailand as well as the region.
The warehousing market in Thailand is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate – CAGR of 8.7% between 2023 and 2028. This is mainly because of the expansion of the e-commerce industry, increased investment by foreign direct investment in manufacturing, and higher demand for third-party logistics services.
The requirement when it comes to temperature-sensitive and high-value goods is also on the rise, resulting in the development of specialised warehousing.
The purpose-built 5,817 sqm dangerous goods warehouse in Thailand offers a seamless connection to critical logistics infrastructure along with the existing KM19 warehouse so as to provide operational efficiency for its customers. The warehouse will now open in phases in order to cater for companies having a mix of dangerous as well as non-dangerous goods cargo, facilitating integrated storage and handling at one site while keeping segregation along with compliance requirements unambiguous. The warehouse has key features such as 90-minute fire-rated walls and doors, explosion-resistant electrical components, fire pumps as well as sprinklers rated for dangerous goods, and also explosion-proof airflow.
According to the Regional Head of Rhenus APAC Warehousing Solutions, Marcus Fornell, “As more manufacturing businesses incorporate the China+1 strategy and increase capabilities in Southeast Asia, Rhenus is scaling up its presence in this region to support the varied storage needs from general to specialized manufacturing industries’ needs. As one of our regional hubs, we will continue to invest in Thailand with more flexible resource allocation solutions.”
